Colonial Funeral Homes - Brick Obituary

Laird Phillips, 77, passed away on Sunday, April 11th. A Navy veteran, he was born on October 19,1943 in Staten Island, NY to Ann and Sid Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Firestone; his son, Russell Phillips; his daughter, Michele Burke and her husband John Burke; his sister, Jo-Ann Lansinger; and his grandson, John Michael Burke.

Laird attended Port Richmond H.S. and then served in the US Navy as a signal man. Growing up he was a member of the Cub Scouts and the Mid Island Little and Babe Ruth Leagues. Laird was also an accomplished bowler. He worked as a repairman for his father, Sid, who owned Sid Phillips Appliance Service in West Brighton, SI, and eventually succeeding his Dad as owner. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas but nothing made him happier than his annual vacations in Aruba where he had many friends.

Laird was generous and kind, a real people person who always enjoyed sharing a laugh with his family and friends. He re-located to Lakewood, NJ several years ago where he lived happily.

Visitation will be Sunday April 18, 2021 from 3:00- 6:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. Burial will be private.

Due to the Covid-19 executive orders of Governor Murphy, please be aware that masks must be worn at all times, social distancing must be maintained, and there are capacity limitations for all gatherings. We ask that you please pay your respects briefly to allow
time for others to do so as well.
