I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of my old friend Lajos. He was an amazing man, not just as a musician, but also as a friend and traveler and world observer who remained very proud of his Hungarian heritage, which I also shared . I spent many hours watching him perform at the Grove Park Inn, and had many memorable lunches with him at his West Asheville home where his wife Dorothy would prepare a meal of Hungarian paprikash.
