Not sure what to say?

In the early 80's I took every class that I possibly could taught by Brother Berrett! He instilled a love for Church History in me that remains vibrant. I have talked about him for many years, and my children know things about him through my sharing of experiences in his classes. He and I had several private conversations after he found out that I am from the South. I loved hearing anything he had to say! His lectures not only taught about the history of the church, but also the...

Dear Darlene:
I was so sorry to hear of LaMar's passing. I know how lonely and sad you are and will be for some time to come. It has been over a year and a half since Vern left me and I am still struggling. It is so hard to lose our sweethearts. I often remember our old high school days many years ago when we saw each other every day at Jordan. My, how fast the years have flown. I wish you the very best and want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was unable to...

Dear Berrett Family,
I had the privilege of participating in two separate Holy Land "Lamar Berrett" tours as a young woman. These experiences changed my life in so many positive ways. Brother Berrett was an inspiring, energetic, personable teacher and guide. He will be missed.
My love to you all,

Darlene and family,
Sorry we couldn't be there for the funeral. We really appreciate and love Down Berrett Lane. We have copies for all of our children. We'll miss Lamar. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Darlene and Family: What a wonderful life you have had with LaMar. He, and all of you, certainly touched our lives. Ray and I loved every minute of our several tours with you. Our daughters, Sandra and Kristine, our Mother, Mellie, our sisters, Margaret and Grace, and our Aunt Twila went with us some of those times. God bless all of you wonderful Berrett Family. My love.

Dear Darlene and Family: Although the expectation was there for his passing it still came as a shock. We so enjoyed working with LaMar doing the aerial photography of Mormon historic sites and, especially, the work at Adam-ondi-Ahamen. LaMar was an inspiration to my students working on those projects. We will miss his warm friendship and spirit.

Dear Darlene and Family: La Mar was one to be admired for his honest endeavours in research. We so enjoyed working with La Mar at Adam-ondi-Ahamen and in doing the aerial photography of church sites in our airplane. He was an inspiration to my students on these projects. We think highly of his publications on travels in the Holy Land as well as the Mormon treks. We will miss him.

My wife Laura grew up next door to LaMar's daughter Marla. When Marla learned that Laura and I were dating, she rushed over with Down Berrett Lane to show off baby pictures of me. I was one of the last Berretts to make the cut (I think only one other person younger than I was included) I'll always be grateful he compiled that book, as I feel I have grown closer to my Berrett ancestry through it.

Dearest Berrett Family,
A true saint has left this earth. I was one of his students on that legendary first Semester Abroad to Israel and was forever changed by Brother Berrett's influence. He wasn't just a teacher, he molded lives. And he lives on in every seminary and Institute class, Sunday School or Relief Society lesson taught by his many "children" throughout the kingdom of God. May you be comforted with all those fabulous memories of this giant of a man.
Love, Christie Hansen...
