Not sure what to say?

While you were preparing for your final trip, I was going through tangled memories to make sure there were no topics that needed to be discussed before your departure. I was quite certain that we had a clean slate … until my first day back at work.

The first day back at work started with an 8:00 am meeting with the executive team. It was one of those meetings epitomizing corporate bureaucracy. I was thinking that you and I could share a few chuckles at IBM’s expense on our call...

Bert and Kathleen were our neighbors for a number of years when we first moved to Florida in 1991. No matter how bad he may have felt, Bert always had a smile and a nice word. We always admired Bert as an accomplished man with a great career that he loved. Kathleen and Bert seemed to be the perfect match for each other. We haven't been in contact for a number of years but miss Kathleen and Bert as neighbors. Until we meet again as neighbors in Heaven. God Bless.

I am honored that Bert included me among the circle of friends who were contacted when his health was failing. He was a wonderful friend at Horace Mann and Camp Moosilauke, and I am very grateful that we stayed in close touch into the new century and that Bert and Kathleen made it to our most recent class reunions in New York (the last one was in 2004).

There are hundreds of memories, but here is one which just crossed my mind. We used to hang out at a jazz club in Greenwich...

Kathleen & Family,
Claudia and I send our condolences. Bert was a special man who brought humor to everything he did. He certainly was a serious businessman when he had to be but laughed at the circumstances later. I learned so much from him early in my career and never forgot those late night breakfasts in Danville. Thank you Bert, with love.

Dear Kath and family, We were saddened to hear of Bert's death. What great times we had together in Berkeley Heights,NJ. Those years Bert,s laughter and humor will always remain in our hearts. Kath, Linda, Rob, and Kevin our prayers are with you all. God Bless and love. Marjorie and George Milne (Aiken, SC)

Bert was a very special friend and I will always be thankful for his special efforts he made during a trying time in San Leandro. During a difficult time for me in trying to get a poorly designed Kool-Aid plant, he worked night and day, weekends until we solved the problem. I am so thankful that in our laterdays we resumed our friendship and his daily e-mails were always enjoyable.

I will miss him very much.

Kathleen,
we have read the news of Bert's passing.
We were fortunate to have you both as neighbors. We still can hear his voice across the canal between our houses! Please accept our condolences. this sad event.

How saddened we all were to learn of Bert's passing. We have such happy memories of family get-togethers when you lived in New Jersey. Our thoughts and prayers, and much love go out to you, Kathleen, and Linda, Rob and Kevin and their families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Prettyman family. I had the pleasure of working at the SL Maxwell House plant while Bert was the plant manager. Bert was an excellent leader and businessman.
