LaMona Coy Obituary

LaMona Coy

Des Moines

LaMona Marie Coy went home to the Lord, November 26, 2014, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Her faith in the church and the Lord never wavered during her journey. She will be missed, until we are together again.

LaMona was an amazing wife, mother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucky and Kitty Martinsen, and two brothers, Pat and Mike Martinsen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Guy Coy, her children, Brandy (Hugh) Voigt, Heather Hildreth, Bob (Sarah) Fox, David (Laura) Fox, Angelia Cooper and Anthony (Katie) Hansen, her sister Dixie Gelinas, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

LaMona wanted us not to mourn her death, but celebrate her life. This celebration will be Sunday, December 7, 2014, 1:30pm at St Marks Episcopal Church, 3120 E 24th St, Des Moines, IA 50317.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Mercy Hospice-Johnston facility for their support and generosity during her final days.

Im so sorry forthe loss of this beautifull woman. Beautifull inside and out. A woman who would give the shirt off her back for another. A woman that would invite a total stranger to eat a meal with her family, because they didnt have a meal, and not just once, many times. Lamona earned her wings a long time ago. I know she took me in when i needed somebody, and someplace to call home. She will never be forgotten..

I wish there were more Lamonas in the world. She never judged anybody and always saw the good in everybody. The world was a better place with her in it and she will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to her husband and kids as I do know the pain of losing your mom. She never lost her faith in God no matter how bad she was feeling from her treatments. She always put everybody else ahead of herself Very unselfish person. She loved her kids grandkids and great grandkids with all her heart. She was truly one of a kind. Im a better person for knowing Lamona COy
