Lance Burr Smith

What a dear and thoughtful man Lance was. I was so sorry to hear that he had passed away. I know that we cousins will miss his great interest and knowledge about the Smith family. Love to his sons and all of his family.

This memory is from 1977 and what took place in Los Angeles when Lance and I went to look at a small sofa we found listed in the flea market paper. We had rented the upper part of a 2 bdr. house in Atwater just outside of Glendale and needed furnishings and the sofa in the paper sounded perfect so the plan was to go look and if we liked it then bring it home, in and out in minutes right? Oh Lance, you were such a smart and funny and kind man. Your love of our family history inspired us all. Your annual talks about Somerset cemetery and the Brick House are still so memorable. My Thanksgiving memories include you. All of us gathered at the church and then at mom and dad´s, and before that, Ruth, and Donalds or Linton and Ann´s. I am so glad to have known you.
