Landers Pruitt, Jr.

PRUITT, Mr. Landers, Jr.-age 73 passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at McLaren-Flint Hospital. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, May 3, 2014 with 11:30 am family hour at Detroit Street Church of God, G-5328 Detroit St., Flint, MI 48505. Bishop L. Earl Stewart officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Pruitt will be Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Calling hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Landers Pruitt, Jr. was born April 22, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Landers Pruitt, Sr. and Odessa Sanders. Mr. Pruitt was a graduate of Flint Central High School ?Class of 1959.? He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army. He attended Detroit Street Church of God. He earned his Bachelor?s Degree in Business Administration from Davenport University. Landers retired in 1996 from General Motors Corporation after 25 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 599. After retirement Landers worked security for Champion Auto Sales. He enjoyed watching tennis on television and enjoyed watching TV in general.

Mr. Pruitt leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of 28 years, Darla Lundy-Pruitt of Flint, MI; sons, Landers Pruitt III of Louisiana, Landers Ray-Dye of Waterford, MI, Isaiah Pruitt, Joseph Pruitt and DeYongray Jenkins; daughters, Yolanda Pruitt and Lana Rose Dye all of Flint; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera (Leonard) Burkett and Martha (Frank) Brown of Flint; father and mother-in-law, Ulysses ?Wise Man? and Peggy Lundy of Flint; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Crain of Flint, Rhonda (Clarence) Swearengen of Knoxville, Tennessee, Patricia Lundy of Flint, Sherry Burton of Plano, Texas and Bobbi Bradshaw of Flint; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Eddie Garland and Leonard Burkett.
Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by: parents, Landers Pruitt, Sr. and Odessa Sanders; brother, Lloyd Fred Pruitt; sister, Maxine Lewis; foster parents, James Sr. and Lois Bailey; foster brother, James Bailey, Jr; niece, Quwanda Lundy.
