The first met Lane I was 11. He was 13, and the coolest kid I had ever seen. Tall, trim, perfect hair, a musician's humor and talent spilling out of him. The last time I saw Lane I found him in good humor even the midst of some serious stuff.
He was a sweet man. Kind. Wounded. Faithful.
I know you rest easy now. It's break time at last.

I met Lane at the Riverside Inn when he was playing with Ira Allen and the band. He was always so friendly and kind to me and was a genuinely nice person and a fabulous musician. He was loved by so many and will be missed. He was with the band for nine years and that creates a very close bond between them all.

Lane and I played drums together in high school band. I was in awe of his drumming prowess and strived in vain to equal it; and in recent years I was in awe of his thinking and writing. Besides being an extraordinarily gifted drummer, Lane was a kind and gracious person and a deep thinker whose thoughtful, insightful writings touched my soul—and made me laugh. He was a good friend, and I'll miss him.
