Lar L. Hothem

It's 2025 when I am reading Lars obituary. I never heard of his death. I had much respect for Lar. I was able to meet up with and talk artifacts with him. RIP "Lar"

My Dad gave me several Lar Hothem books and knew him as an acquaintance at artifact shows. He told me Lar intended to put one of his points on a cover but Lar passed away before it happened. My dad has since passed in 2019. Ironically, I´ve been asked to give a presentation with my artifact collection. Im an amateur and will be citing Lar´s books. Hopefully carrying on his legacy and my Dad´s with honor.

I have learned alot from reading Lars books. I will miss Him, and I will never forget what he has given to the artifact hunting community. God Bless him and his family. John Ray

May the Lord comfort you and your family during this time of sorrow. King Solomon wrote, "Better is the day of a man's death than the day of his birth." Ecc. 7:1. We grieve not for Lar for surely he is in a better place, but we grieve for the loss to his wife, children, family and friends who are now sensing separation and the temporary end of time that can be shared with him. I first met him in the early 1990’s as he was putting books on his table at the Owensboro Artifact Show. He always had a kind smile, something nice to say and lots and lots of books to browse through.
If I went to a show and did not buy an artifact, I usually always acquired a book from him.
