Laried Hobert Brock “Tex”, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 15, 1946, in Center, Texas, the son of the late Hobert Brock and Nettie Mae (Moorman) Thompson.
Tex graduated from Harlan County High School in Kentucky and served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Davis and the U.S.S. Wasp during the NASA Gemini space program. He received a National Defense Service Medal for his service during Vietnam.
On May 11, 1967, Tex married his wife of 58 years, Jeanne Marie (Oliphant) Brock, and together they built a wonderful life and family. He met Jeanne while stationed in Boston, Massachusetts and they had three children. He received his associates degree in applied science from NHTI and then retired from his career as a Telephone Technician for Verizon in 2005.
In the summer of 1976, The Brock Family moved to North Wilmot, New Hampshire, where Tex and Jeanne were able to build a home together. Tex loved spending time with family, sailing and working outdoors from sun up to sun down and was an avid supporter of the Kearsarge community athletics programs for his children spanning over 22 years.
Tex is survived by his three children, Jason Laried Brock of San Jose, CA, Jennifer Marie Brock of Auburn, NH and Jared Hobert Brock of Wrentham, MA; his seven treasured granddaughters, Caspian Jeanne Brock, Jessica Marie Mayes, Bianca Asteghik Brock, Julia Mackenzie Mayes, Jenna Morgan Mayes, Brisa Brock and Bailey Ava Brock. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Hensley, and brother, Lonnie Brock, his brother-in-law John Oliphant,Jr and sister-in-law Janet (Oliphant) Guarnieri as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Willam A Brock.
Tex was a lifetime member of the NRA. He served as a town selectman for the town of Wilmot and served as a local 2320 IBEW union representative. He was a member of the American Legion. Tex was strong in his Christian faith, and shared his love of Christ with others through his words and actions.
Friends may visit with family at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. A military memorial service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH, with a reception to follow at The Common Man Restaurant, 25 Water Street, Concord NH. Reverend Stephen Warfield will officiate the ceremony.
