Not sure what to say?

I didn't know M. Larry CARTER but we have something in common. My name is Romain, I am 41 and I am from France. This year I bought a 1973 911 Porsche that I found in the USA and that I imported to France. By doing some research I have discovered that this car belonged to M. CARTER from 1977 to 1998. He used a lot this car, driving more than 150 000 miles and taking really good care of it. Now, thanks to him keeping it in good shape, this car is a collector and will continue to live on. On my...

I had the pleasure of having Larry as a friend and law partner for many years. He was a true gentleman and a kind and thoughtful counselor to his clients. My sympathies are extended to Aileen and the rest of the family. Larry will be missed by all who knew him. I am glad I had that privilege. Alan Kane

Our law school class was divided alphabetically, resulting in my never meeting Larry in the flesh in Ann Arbor. By reputation I knew he was a "gunner", as his name was mentioned in our senior year as a possible replacement guard on an intramural basketball team I played on. Out here in Washington, through Pete Byrnes, I became a teammate of Larry's on the Faded Green, quickly learning that Larry's rep for shooting anytime he crossed center-court was well earned. We had a Three Rivers...

Larry was one of my favorite colleagues at Preston. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive outlook on things. My sympathy goes out to all of you who were close to Larry and loved him. The world is a lesser place because of his passing.

My deepest condolences to the Carter family on your loss! I started at Preston Gates & Ellis in 1989 and will always remember Larry for his warmth, kindness, and strength of spirit. With him, job titles meant nothing, and he always made staff feel very special, myself included. I also remember his easy smile. I hope that cherished memories will help you get through this sad time for he's certainly living on through them and through your love. Blessings to you all ... Jo Ann

I first met Larry in Sept. of 1955. We were thrown together as roommates at Vandercook Hall On the Western Michigan campus. We got along well enough to remain roommates for all four years. Larry made a lot of friends and I was glad I was one of them. Even though he headed West and I remained in Michigan we maintained our contacts and friendship and actually the bond grew stronger over the years with many visits back and forth.
Perhaps his greatest influence on me...

I met Aileen Yumiko Hamamoto and Larry Martin Carter in 1957 at Western Michigan University. Later Aileen and I rented an apartment in Kalamazoo while Larry was in law school in Ann Arbor. They made frequent trips back and forth on weekends. I was their maid of honor at their wedding in Kanley Chapel on campus. So our friendship goes back a long ways.

Wickedly smart, and even more wickedly funny. I will always remember Larry's tales of his and his U of Michigan law school buddies irreverent ways. The longevity of his many friendships is a testament to what a good friend and supporter he was to his friends. And I will forever admire the personal fortitude he showed being able to maintain sobriety for so many decades. A very good person whose smile and humor and charm will be missed by all he touched.
