Larry Wayne Gentry

Larry Wayne Gentry, 53, of Lake Monticello, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 24, 2010, in a Richmond hospital due to a stroke.

He was born on September 14, 1956, to Melvin and Jean Gentry of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Granville Gentry and Mary G. Dunn, and Allie and Evelyn Swain; and his father-in-law, Dennis Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Teresa S. Gentry of Lake Monticello; daughter, Ashley Gentry; son, Billy Gentry of Lovettsville, Virginia; brothers, Gary Gentry of Palmyra, Bret Gentry and Marie Thompson of Scottsville, Tim Gentry and Beth of Goochland, Virginia; special nieces and nephews, Kristen, Katie and Tyler Gentry of Goochland and Brandi Sites and Dewey of Lake Monticello; aunts, Amanda Addington and Hobart, Mary Larson of Milton Hills, and Fannie Colvin of Gordonsville; uncles, Granville Gentry of Charlottesville, Nelson Gentry and Marie of Knoxville, Tennessee and Wayne Swain and Pam of Troy; many cousins and friends; and great-nieces, Makayla and Taylor Sites of Palmyra. Also surviving are Larry's mother-in-law, Margie Smith; sister-in-law, Coleen Sinnett; brother-in-Law, Jim Stinnett; nieces, Courtney, Justin and Kristin Stinnett.

He loved his family, his Church body, God, NASCAR, golf and his country music. He was the best son, brother, father, husband, uncle and friend anyone could ask for - he will be greatly missed by all.

We love you Larry and will see you again on the other side in a better life.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

Interment will be private.

I was so sorry to hear Larry passed away. I played music with Larry for a couple years, and really thought a lot of him as a friend and musician. God bless you all.

Larry is missed more and more each day.

We just heard today of Larry's passing and are so saddened by the news. I am sorry that we cannot be with you this evening as we are on vacation.
