It takes a deep caring and special courage to immerse oneself in the suffering of the moral injury of others. Larry is just such a person. I say "is" because his book on the subject lives on beyond his death for the rest of us.
I knew him best by phone, by his voice--gentle and full of good cheer, especially when he was talking about Sheila. I wish I could have known him better.
I am glad Larry had Sheila throughout his life, and especially these last 18 months. I am...

I met Larry before his doctorate work was completed, and then I was an Iliff student in several classes. I remember being challenged in his classes, but always in ways that would go on to be practical in congregational ministry. Thanks, Larry, I treasure the memories of our time together.

so sorry to hear about Larry's passing. I was at his graduation in 1978 at Princeton and knew how hard he worked to achieve his doctorate. Just reading about his accomplishments and how he touched so many lives makes me want to do better. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers, Madelaine Endicott

I have liked and appreciated Larry ever since we first met and became colleagues in Princeton. During the years since then my admiration for him and my gratitude for his friendship has only deepened. He was an exceptionally able and caring human being who had the gift of making one feel better in his presence. When asked recently how I would describe him, I said "Larry was a prince among men". May the One who gave him life grant him a safe lodging, a holy rest, and peace for ever more.

Larry, the most accepting human being I've ever known, made my Iliff years the best of my life. His teaching deeply shaped me and thus my children, whose own lives now reflect much of what he taught. With the Iliff community, with the world, I mourn his passing.

Dr. Graham -- Larry -- was such a strong, guiding light during the years he taught at Iliff School of Theology. Godspeed, my friend, and thank you. My deepest condolences to his family, especially to his wife, Dr. Sheila Davaney.

Larry was one of the kindest and most compassionate people I know. He not only taught knowledge to his students; he also taught them how to be present to others. I feel blessed to have known him in several venues: as a student, a member of a congregation he led through a healing process, and a friend. My deepest condolences to his family and friends as they grieve the loss of this gentle and caring man.
