I met Larry when he played softball for my dad´s team. He was a great player and teammate with some wonderful stories! I last saw Larry at our Kiracofe tournament about 25 years ago with his son. He was a good man. My condolences to his family.

Larry was a great athlete, a fierce competitor and a great sense of humor! He brought out the best in his teammates during games and practices. An all-around athlete who loved to compete. Many memories he leaves behind.

I remember Larry Johnson when I was 13, serving as the batboy for the Blatz baseball team in the late '50s. He had just come out of U High and was the favorite of both the coach, 'Punk' Smathers, and myself. To me, he was like Mickey Mantle-he had the speed, he hit, and he was the star of the team. Everyone watched him when he batted and ran. My regret is that I never had the chance to see or reconnect with him since those days.
