LARRY WAYNE JOHNSON

Larry Wayne Johnson was born on March 12, 1960, in Houston, Texas to Ira V. Johnson and Ada B. Carothers Johnson at Jefferson Davis Hospital. Larry was the youngest of six children born to this union.

Larry was a product of John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Booker T. Washington Junior/Senior High School. Larry was employed with the City of Houston Solid Waste Management, where he retired after working over 25 years.

Larry first joined New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wiley L. Dunn Sr., later moving his membership to River of Jordan Evangelical Church where Rev. Clifford Morris served as his Pastor. In later years, he returned to New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles E. Turner.

Larry was united in holy matrimony to Rebecca Raven on October 16, 1978. Larry and Rebecca were married for 46 years until he went home to be with the Lord. To this union three daughters were born: Jeanette, Latasha, and Lashanda.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mark Anthony Johnson and Robert Charles Johnson; two sisters, Joyce Marie Gooden and Louise Samuel.

Larry will live on in the memory of his loving and devoted wife, Rebecca Johnson; three daughters, Jeanette Johnson (Steve), Latasha Sanders (Jeston), and Lashanda Craig (Jacob); one sister, JoAnn Hill; five granddaughters, Brianna Dewitt (Mack), Ayanna Johnson, Taija Sanders, Katerra Craig, and Olivia Craig; two grandsons, Joseph Sanders and Chase Gray; three great- grandchildren, K’hlani Sanders, Mackenzie Dewitt, and Kaiser Banks. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
