Frye Funeral Home, Inc. Obituary

Larry Kearns of Winter Garden, FL received his angel wings on June 1, 2023 at his home after fighting a long illness. Larry was born July 13, 1949 in Monongahela, the son of the late Roy Calvin Kearns and Olive Walker Kearns.

After graduating from high school, Larry moved to Virginia to pursue a government career. He worked as an IT Specialist for the Department of the Army in Fort Belvoir, VA. After 42 years of dedicated service, he retired on December 31, 2010 and moved to Florida. Larry was a highly intelligent individual and throughout his lifetime, he was able to accomplish anything, no matter how challenging. He was always willing to help anyone and made people feel special, including complete strangers. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Larry is survived by his soulmate of 47 years, Julian Atencio. Larry leaves behind his nieces whom he was extremely proud of, Sherri (Robert) Rafalko and Patricia (Larry) Mason, all of Monongahela; four great nieces; three great grandnieces; and one great grandnephew. Also surviving are his daughter, Visa Young Oakley (Nancy Johnson); two grandchildren, Reggie Biegler and Gabrielle Biegler; and one great granddaughter, Lilly.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy Calvin Jr., Gary Lee, and Charles; and one nephew, Roy “Sonny” Calvin III.

Friends will be received from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela, where services will begin at 12:00 PM with the Deacon Alexander Poroda officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fells Cemetery, Belle Vernon.

Not sure what to say?

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Just can’t believe it. He was a wonderful person and a joy to work with. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Just saw Larry a couple of months ago. He was in good spirits. Had a nice visit. Can't believe he's
gone. Will miss him dearly.
My condolence to the family.

Going to miss one of my favorite cousins. Larry lived with us for a bit after he finished high school as he was starting his government career. Later, he treated my children to theme park entertainment. Just a wonderful person, always positive. All our best to Julian and the rest. May your memories be strong and fond.

To Julian and all of Larry's family,
I'm saddened to hear about Larry's passing. He was so kind and smart. We worked together several years on Fort Belvoir on quite a few projects. One of which, the paperless initiative. He enjoyed streamlining down processes from three months to three weeks to three days, etc. Brought big smiles when he brightened someone's day and/or made their jobs easier. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for comfort, Tricia LaGrange

Larry Learns was a big asset to the Army Network Enterprise Center at Fort Belvoir, VA. Thank You for your service.
Rest In Peace
