Larry Krueger Obituary

Larry Wayne Krueger
1942-2017
Larry Wayne Krueger, 75, of Houston, passed away on May 4, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 2, 1942 in Bellville, Texas to Clarence and Edith Krueger. After graduating from Bellville High School, Larry met the love of his life, Sue Blaschke, and soon thereafter moved to Houston to marry her and begin working for Blaschke Trucking Company, where he quickly became President. Under his leadership, the company flourished and expanded operations into both Dallas and San Antonio. During his tenure, Larry was also elected Chairman of the Board of the Texas Oilfield Haulers Association.
Never being one who was content to sit still, Larry later acquired not only a truck parts and supply business, which he rebranded as Northwest Drive Train, Inc., but also a steel fabrication company, Steffani Metals, Inc. Both companies prospered under his direction, and as further testament to his leadership, Larry was also elected President of the Texas Structural Steel Institute.
Larry was a devout Christian, loving husband and father, and a wonderful brother, uncle, friend and mentor. He valued honesty, integrity, and hard work. His word was his bond, and he treated every person that he met, regardless of their station in life, with both compassion and respect. He loved good food, especially that which he cooked himself, good wine, and good company. He was an avid hunter, and often joked that if on the opening day of quail season he was not found on his family's land in Austin County, Texas then he would either be in jail or in the morgue. He loved sports, and could easily have been credited for multiple Super Bowl and World Series championships, if only the Oilers and Astros coaching staffs had bothered to consult him. He loved to take his family on fun vacations every year, and regardless of how remote the destination may have seemed to them, always had an uncanny ability to find at least one person that he knew when he got there. Above all, he loved his family, and they loved him, and will miss him dearly.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws, Marvin Maeckel and Glenn Gross, and nephew, Todd Krueger. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Krueger, daughters Kimberly Bugai and husband Tony, Traci Warner and husband Paul, grandchildren Ryan and Jordyn Bugai, and Garrett and Lindsey Warner, sister, Shirley Maeckel, brother, Gary Krueger and wife Nancy, sisters-in-law, Sandra Gross, Kay Gutowsky and husband, Larry and many nieces, nephews and cousins that meant the world to him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7th from 3-5p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 8th at 2p.m. at Foundry United Methodist Church, 8350 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77065.
We would like to thank Dr. Karp and his team at M.D. Anderson for all they did for Larry. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Larry's name to the American Cancer Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center, or to the charity of your choice.

Everyone will eventually come to the clearing at the end of the path. I have had the honor of knowing, laughing and hunting with Larry for numerous years. A superb story teller (most of which are true) and a true friend. Hopefully I can meet up with him and the pups at the Johnny house at the clearing at the end of the path..
