Larry was a good friend to my mother and father in law just seeing him was like seeing a bit of them still. He was also a saint for having 4 daughters it takes a strong man to handle girls. I will miss him.

We have lived in sunfield for only 11 years, but it didn't take long to know Mr. Mapes. He always had a smile and a wave for his neighbors. To this day we wave and smile to everyone, he taught us that. One year we had a home emergency I didn't know what to do so I called Mr. and Mrs. Mapes. Without hesitation he said, "come down I have something that will work for that." He hardly knew us but that didn't matter because of who he was, he was a great man and a great neighbor. My Uncle Larry was an amazing man. He had a vision and worked very hard to be a very successful business man. My memories of him were how he could bring a big town fair to a small town like Sunfield. Must be he had connections.
I loved going to Wall Lake with the Mapes family and riding in his speed boat.
Uncle Larry left a mark in all the people he came in connect with.
I will miss him and the way he always rang the sleigh bells on Christmas Eve.
