Larry Marks Obituary

Miami
Larry S. Marks, (70) passed away on November 6, 2011, after a heroic battle with Prostate Cancer. He died peacefully at home. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Pepper-Marks, his children, Mitchell Feller (Kelly), Ron Marks, Brad Feller (Karen), Melinda Marks-Perry (Michael), Matt Feller (Viki), Edward Marks (Sarah), Alisha Marks-Kosoka (Masami), and mother Gertrude. Larry was the best Papa to his grandchildren, Brooke, Glenn, Ashley, Andrew, Madison, Kayla, Jenna, Maya, Nina and Danielle. Larry graduated from The University of Florida, where he was a Pi Lambda Phi. In 1976 Larry started Centennial Construction building many landmarks throughout Dade and Broward counties. Larry was an avid sailor, fisherman, rollerblader, hiker and a loyal Florida football fan. He combined his love of children with his love of sailing as a volunteer skipper at Shake A Leg Miami, providing people with disabilities an opportunity to sail. Family will be attending a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery on November 9th at 10:30am. There will be a 1:00 pm celebration of Larry's life at Shake-A-Leg in Coconut Grove (2620 S. Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove, Fl 33133). Donations can be made in his honor to Stand Up 2 Cancer or Shake -A-Leg Miami.

Larry had a zest for life unlike no other person that I knew in the 80's; and, his love and devotion to family, friends, and you Gloria was unquestionable. My sympathy goes out to you and the entire Marks family during this time of sorrow.

Gloria and Marks Family,
I was deeply sadden to hear that Larry had passed away. While working for him in the early 80's, I always admired his devotion to Gloria, his children, and parents. My sympathies are with all of you at this time.

Gloria:
Sorry I just learned about Larry today; I was out of town for a visit with my prostate doctor.
Larry and I go back to the 60's in Miami Lakes, and the construction business in South Florida as well.
I have very fond memories of our racing ventures on Low Bidder and Centennial(I still have my Centennial T shirt).
But for this delay I would have been there today for sure; he was that kind of friend.

Dearest Glor and Family,
Jay and i are so so sad to hear about Larry's passing.
We admired Larry for being such a great fighter to the very end.
Our years together go back to grade school, high school, college and on.
I remember when you and Larry walked down the aisle
at your wedding. You both were so much in love.

Gloria,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family! I spent many a childhood day with Larry through Boy Scouts, elementary, jr. high, and high school. He was a great friend and neighbor! I enjoyed his humor at the MIAMI HIGH SCHOOL reunions, he will be missed!
