Larry Nelson Obituary

Larry Nelson
10/28/1948 - 01/25/2023
Larry Alan Nelson of San Antonio, Texas passed away on January 25, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on October 28, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He worked for Continental Airlines for 40 years, starting on the ramp in Colorado Springs, ending as managing director of catering services in Houston, with multiple stops along the way. One such stop, which was a great ice-breaker, included three years in the Fiji Islands.
His career in the airline industry took him all around the world where he formed lasting friendships, and provided rare and special experiences for him and his family.
He loved his family, the friends he made along the way, playing golf, cheering for the Denver Broncos, and especially rooting for and supporting his sons' and grandchildren's activities.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Vera, sisters Joanne and Barbara, and brother Jack.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Caroline; sons, Aron and Todd; and grandchildren, Madison and Noah.
Larry was a Vietnam veteran, and although he rarely spoke about his time in service he found a deep sense of honor later in life.
The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice and Season's Alzheimer's Care for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in their honor to the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org/donate).

Larry I just thinking about you the other day when I was writing to the OldMan. You always after me for having him wait in the van for me to leave work. Do I took your talking to, to heart and bought him a small tv for the van. You know I think that is the time he only got peace. There was always something going on in the family or at work.
Have you seen Aron? I know you are both in heaven because you were both such kind souls. It is said we will have healed bodies and we will recognize the people we love. Well if you bump into the oldman give him a hug and I am sure if you see my mom she will be just as bossy as ever.
Miss you but in no hurry to see you again.

Larry I sure miss working and just having fun with you at events and just off the clock with Dave, Rabbit and who ever else wanted to go. What a blast we had in Kremmling on fair weekend many moons ago. You are such a good soul so I just know that you and Sam and many others have gotten together in heaven. Thank you for watching over your family who love you very much and over your friends. I'll never forget your impact on my families life.

I was just thinking and of the times we worked together and the times we would spend with Richard and David.
Larry was always the level head one.
A good thing because away from work I could have gotten us all in trouble. I think about the time int RM news when Bruce put in an article and it had Larry in fight ring against some one. There was steam coming out of Larry's ears and we all laughing so hard. Larry was one of the few good men in the industry that cared for everyone as if they were family. I miss you Larry as we all do. Maybe if I fly right I might get enough wing power to see you again. Mary..

Larry was, by far and away, the best boss I ever had. Smart, smart man, but his humanity was his greatest gift. He told his management staff, "It's easier to be kind than right."

Deepest sympathies to Caroline and the entire family. Larry touched so many lives in such a positive way, he was kind, caring and above all led with his heart. He always had a smile on his face (as evidenced in the attached pictures:) and made time for everyone. No matter how hectic or crazy work could or would get, he had a calm confidence that resonated with everyone. He will be missed and remembered by so many friends and colleagues (many of us were both). Thinking of the entire family during this difficult time.

Carolyn and family.
I would consider Larry a friend. We had some good times at work and away from work. It was always nice to work for and with Larry. I know he has moved on from this earth to be in heaven. I hope that he can see Sam again and share their funny stories with each and those that have gone before us. Larry you will be missed.
