MARQUETTE HEIGHTS – Larry T. Peek, 64, of Marquette Heights, died at 3:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 1, 1948, in Peoria, to Harold and Stella Stittig Peek. He is survived by his children, Stacy (Troy) Heineman of Vernon, Alabama, Scott (Jennifer) Peek of Amory, Mississippi, Tammy Parks of Baldwyn, Mississippi; his brother, Brian (Carol) Peek of Princeville; his life partner, Sue Hull of Marquette Heights; Sue's daughters, Angela Martin of Pekin, Amy Booth of Greenview and ten grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; one brother, LeRoy Peek; two sisters, Pat Lynn and Diann Faubel. He was a United States Army veteran, serving his nation in Viet Nam. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts for his brave and honorable service. He was employed by Hagerty Bros. Steel and Aluminum Co., in East Peoria, for 39 years. He enjoyed endless hours of planting crops and collecting gifts on Farmville, making many friends along the way. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January, 28, 2013, at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Chaplain Lauren Padgett will officiate. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Burial, with military rites provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell County Military Rites Team, will be in Springdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans.

I worked with Larry at Hagerty years ago and we hit it off immediately. Seems we always got to laughing about something in those days. He had such a sense of humor. I saw him not long ago at Kroger and we stopped and chatted as usual. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I did not know Mr. Peek, but thank you for your service to our country. My daddy was in Nam in the AF and died in April 2012 from complications due to Agent Orange. May God bless you and GodSpeed Soldier!
