I did not understand the path to and from Central Michigan University until I was accepted into a Ph.D. Program. I called Dr. Larry T. Reynolds and he told me the resources to purchase. Not only did I study, but I taught my daughter everything I learned. For sure, this path was not about me, but for the educated woman who has a waiting list for her classrooms and a degree from the second university founded in the United States of America. Dr. Reynolds will be forever missed....

The last 5 hour seminar I had with Professor Reynolds was on a pleasant day sitting in a row boat with fishing poles in our hands. This is a man who goes fishing for all afternoon and does not bring beer. We are both 'anglers' and we caught nothing and really did not miss the fish. I would love to live that day again. Larry gave me a copy of his over 1,000 page "Handbook in Symbolic Interactionism". More than a year later we sat down with my copy all marked up with marginal notes from...

Professor Reynolds was one of the top three college teachers. He, Professor Pete Obuchowski, and Professor James Hodgins all held students to high standards. May his soul rest in peace.

Larry Reynolds was the most steadfast and kind of friends. He will be missed in a world that sorely needs his wisdom, humor and humanity.

Larry was a wonderful, delightful, and generous friend and colleague. A remarkable scholar, researcher, author, and intellectual. CMU was very lucky to have had such a fantastic academic star on their faculty for so many decades! RIP dear friend!
