Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Sacks passing, he was so much help to me when I needed him. Alice

I started seeing Dr. Sacks in early 2009. Having seen several therapists before him, he was the first that I really felt a connection with. What impressed me most was that his intelligence was surpassed only by his humility. It is rare to find a person with his level of skill who is also so down to earth. And you just knew that he really cared about you. He definitely did not become a doctor for the money or prestige, but rather, to help people who needed someone with his unique...

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It helps our family navigate this heart breaking event. I appreciate that you all took the time to memorialize him. Much appreciated,
From his brother who loved him dearly

Doctor Sacks broke through barriers and in doing so allowed me to also have such confidence for myself. He was a trusted connection for myself and I am sure for others. I enjoyed his humor as well as his intellect in conversation. Trusting him with my emotions, sharing my own art and ideas were important barriers he helped me to overcome. I am about his daughter's age and as we shared thoughts about family and other such experiences, I realize what a light his daughter was in his life. I am...

I blame Larry for getting me hooked on really strong coffee. When I was a medical student in Oklahoma I flew out to Portland to do a rotation on the inpatient psychiatric unit at OHSU during the height of dramatic tension between Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. I was staying in the long-since torn down campus housing that nobody knew existed. Each day I would pass through the porthole between these two locations, but escaped a few times at night on the #8 bus, which was always infused with...

I became a patient of Dr. Sacks in the fall of 2010. He was a truly kind and caring man and a great help to me. I lived in New York City for several years and Dr. Sacks and I shared New York stories. I was so shocked and saddened by his death. I will miss him.

I worked with Dr. Sacks for a number of years. What I found about him that made him stand out was that he was so endearing. He always made himself a part of the line staff by being in the staff lounge and always up for a good laugh. He also was one to back up a nurse for their judgement call. I felt he had many outstanding features as a physician but most importantly as a person. Dr. Sacks you will be sorely missed but I suspect you are now among the angels and probably making them laugh...

Dr. Sacks was the psychiatrist for my son who has schizophrenia for perhaps 20yrs. He was personally interested in my sons welfare and also welcomed input from my 3 healthy adult children. We all were most appreciatrive of his concerns and kindness.

Larry, You will be truly missed. I enjoyed working with you. You had such a great personality and sense of humor. May you rest in peace.
