Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Larry Wayne Teel, 70, of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 5, 2019 with his family by his side at Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Heritage Church with Pastor Ron Barnard, officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Crestview Cemetery, under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Larry was born in Wichita Falls  on June 13, 1948. He graduated from S.H. Rider High School in 1966 and married Jacquita Joy Ridley on April 24, 1982; they were married 36 years.

Larry was a God-fearing, hard-working, generous, funny, witty man who brought much laughter to those around him. His family was very important to him, and he made family vacations and activities a priority.  He also took joy in helping others and spent his free time lending a hand and advice to whoever needed it.

Larry enjoyed several hobbies over the years. He loved to ski and passed that love to his sons. For about 17 years, Larry was actively involved in his church by leading Royal Rangers, helping with Junior Bible Quiz, and influencing many young men for Christ. In his later years, Larry and Jacquita began taking dance lessons, joined a local dance club, developed close friendships, and enjoyed many fun-filled evenings of food, music, dance, and laughter.

Larry worked for AT&T for 36 years before retiring in 2010. He had a very strong work ethic and most people, including his sons, had trouble keeping up with him. If he didn’t have a project of his own, he was usually helping someone else with their projects; he never liked just sitting around watching TV or being idle. Larry began remodeling his house 48 years ago as a hobby. He learned how to fix or build anything rather than paying for someone else to do it.  Even though the stairs were never finished, everyone was amazed at his skills and craftsmanship.

Larry is survived by his wife Jacquita Teel, his three sons, Joshua Wayne Teel and wife Anja, Jared Micah Teel and wife Deborah, and Jordan Wesley Teel and wife Kelly; his eight grandchildren Levi, Nora, Grace, Everly, Brooklyn, Bailey, Jolie, and Hannah; and his two sisters, Sally Brinkley and Sue Farrier.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, William Lloyd Teel and Georgia Elaine Anastopoulos Holdridge.

2 Timothy 4:6-8 (NIV) the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310 or Assemblies of God World Missions, 1445 North Boonville Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802.
