Not sure what to say?

Larry was a hero, a kind and soft-spoken man. We met in Hawaii in the mid to late 1970's when his young family arrived. We became friends and our children were friends and teammates. After our families were moved back to the mainland we kept in touch and even visited a few times. I was sad to hear of Larry's passing and was able to attend his memorial. God bless him and his family.

We are a family full of veterans, in particular sailors, and I am proud of everyone who served & survived it. Larry, Dave, Uncle Everett (Grandpa Mac to me), and others are all together swapping sea stories by now, I'm sure. He will be missed & yet be with us always in our hearts, thoughts, and memories. Larry was a wonderful person. When he and my cousin Gloria were dating I teased him so much and he retaliated. He was a joy. When they were dating, I was invited to the Warthen house quite a few times. I was always welcomed by everyone. Larry's parents were wonderful. He will be missed so much.

It was a shock to get the message about Larry's death. I always thought of him as a very kind, sensitive and sensible man--who was always caring and friendly to me and my family. We met Larry, Gloria, Chris, Callan and Jodie when they first landed in Hawaii back in the 1970's and became fast friends throughout the years. We shared some happy times and some profound loses along the way. I will always salute him for being a hero to his daughter Jodie. Love, tears and hugs to my friend...

I know Larry as the best of the best. A leader and quiet about it. He was there for us. I loved him.
