Not sure what to say?

Coach Wild was a first year football coach at Ervin Junior High when I entered the 7th grade (1966). He was tough (multiple 50 yard bear crawls??). He also cared deeply about his players. When I first started playing varsity football as a starter, Coach Wild would wait for me outside the Ruskin locker room after Friday night games to give me tips and offer encouragement. This was after all the lights had gone off and the stands were empty. I had always intended to contact him later in...

I was sorry to read of the passing of Larry. He became a very good friend to me during and after the time I taught at Northern Heights. He was a substitute in my room on several occasions and always followed the lesson plans and kept the students on task.
He had me do some alterations on his baseball jackets and would take that time to tell me about his coaching experiences. I enjoyed having Larry as a friend.

was a good friend of larrys; always enjoyed his stories and
company. will miss him.

I think Larry's first love in life was baseball but that was followed closely by his love for the great outdoors. He thoroughly enjoyed following his famous Pointers and Brittanies in pursuit of quail and pheasants near Herrington, Ks., hunting rabbits with his TC Contender .410, hunting deer, and fishing farm ponds with a #2 white Mepp's spinner. I am honored that he considered me a friend.

Larry was a great guy. He always had a good story to tell. We will all miss him at CSD Credit Union.

I first met Coach Wild in the 8th grade at Ervin Junior High as the football coach. I stayed in touch with him for a while after high school as we used to go quail hunting together once in a while. Several good memories of hunting together and taking in the Yankee's and Royals playoff games in the 70's. RIP Larry Wild.

I used to umpire baseball for Larry at
Ruskin HS He was intense and loved baseball. He was always good and coached his boys that he would talk to the umpires and if you hustled and on top of the play he would not say anything. He will be missed.

Larry taught at Ruskin and at one time was the Baseball Coach and I was the "official scorekeeper" for him and the team. We had many conversations over the years about baseball and when some pro-player would come & see him Larry would always send him up to the office to see me. He was a very thoughtful person & I am sure he will be missed by his family and friends.
