Larry J. Wingard, 74


Larry J. Wingard, 74, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.


He was born March 16, 1947, in Brookville, a son of the late Hazel L. (Johnson) and Frank D. Wingard.


On September 24, 1988, he married Roberta H. (Kohl) Wingard, who survives.


Larry was a 1966 graduate of the Punxsutawney High School.  He was a certified welder and retired as a Union Boilermaker after working with them for over twenty years.


He loved Jesus and his family.  He also enjoyed hot rods, motorcycles, racing cars and atv’s, restoring classic cars, golfing, singing, and going to Florida in the winters.  He was a craftsman who built his own house.


Larry was a member of the Boilermakers #154, Eagles, Wheels of Yesteryear Car Club, and the Knight Riders Car Club.


In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include five children, Matthew Wingard of Pittsburgh, Shawn Wingard and wife Debbie of DeLancey, Kipp Wingard of Punxsutawney, Lori Roney of Walston and Jessica Abraham and Michael Murray, Jr. of Warren, OH; eight grandchildren, Kayla Cameron and husband Justin, Tyler Wingard and wife Shelby, Karlee Bingaman and husband Daran, Blade Roney, Phoenix Wingard, Priyanka Abraham, Penelope Kinter, and Michael Murry III; three great-grandchildren, Tate, Lily and Evelyn; and three sisters, Joan Fiscus of Ellicott City, MD, Barbara Brash and husband Donald of Clearwater, FL, and Judy DuMont and husband Ron of Punxsutawney.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Daniel Wingard and two infant sons.


A private service is being held for the family.


Interment will be in Langville United Methodist Cemetery, Mayport.
