Not sure what to say?

Lathardus and I met at the Government Secondary School Tabora Tanzania. He was one of seven new staff who arrived under President Kennedy's Teachers for East Africa scheme, and changed things for good. The well-meaning Headmaster, John Reginald Crabbe, took gentle exception to the blue stripe and red stripe down each side of Lathardus's short trousers. "The uniform we teachers wear here is all white"
Lathardus planned his outfit ahead of the next Saturday morning school 'baraza'...

To the Family of Dr. Lathardus Goggins
My deepest condolences are extended to you. I met Dr. Goggins at Central State University while working in the Alumni Office. I just found out of his passing and wanted to let you know that Dr. Goggins will always be a part of my life, as I have maintained in my possession his book that he wrote on CSU. He was an amazing gentlemen.

God Bless,
Karen Davis
CSU Class of 1979

Dr. Goggins was an honorable and inspirational man. I met him as a campus administrator during one of his many recruitment trips for the University of Akron to Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. His work and commitment to the education of young people speaks volumes. He touched all that he met and is in part responsible for my continued education. Thank you Lathardus. Prayers for continued strength and peace are extended to the family.

Dr. Goggins cared about people and understood how important it was to help others obtain an education. He not only touched my life, but the lives of many as he gave unconditionally. When I look back at my success, I always think of him, because he helped me change my life in a profound way.

Bless you, Professor Goggins, for making a difference in the lives of so many students at the University of Akron. By opening our minds, you opened doors.

Dr./Mrs. Goggins (mom) & LaLa (bro): My deepest sympathy for your loss. Dad Goggins made an indelible and profound impression on the lives of many. He will be greatly missed. Words cannot express nor reach where only prayer can. May God keep and comfort you as only He is able. I pray your strength and peace in Him. Michele Stubbs-Thompson & Family

I am glad to have known and had "Doc" as a friend. We enjoyed many laughs at Rockynol together in June. These memories will last a lifetime as well as his impact upon the communities of Akron and the University. May God continually bless and strengthen the family.

Ellen and Family;
You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I was privileged to have Dr. Goggins as my professor while at Akron U. I took a class from him which I had failed with a previous professor. Dr. Goggins made the subject come alive and I received an A. When I became a teacher myself, I always remembered that lesson and tried to make a subject real to students. It made me a better teacher. Thank you, Dr. Goggins
