KITTERY, ME: Laura L. (Garneau) Bisson, 88, died peacefully on April 21, 2004 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in St. Fortunat, Quebec, Canada on December 12, 1915, the daughter of Edouard and Rose Anna (Croteau) Garneau. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Adelard, Alma, Emile, Andrena, Albert, Yvonne, Olivine, Eva, Josphat and Raoul.

At the age of eight her family immigrated to the United States, and most of her life was spent in Rollinsford, NH. On September 5, 1936 she married Lucien J. Bisson at St. Mary Church in Rollinsford. They were blessed with two children, Joanne Bisson and George “Pete.” Bisson. Her husband died in 1977.

For 25 years she worked at the General Electric Plant in Somersworth, NH. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Rollinsford and the Ladies of St. Anne. In 1982, she moved to Kittery and became a member of St. Raphael Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne L. Bisson of Kittery, a son, George “Pete” Bisson and his wife Pauline of Seabrook, NH, two sisters, Lucienne Ouellette of Berwick, ME and Rachel Lemelin of Somersworth, NH, one grandson, Brian, two great-grandchildren Brian and Brandon, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday April 25, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home 301 Main St. South Berwick, ME.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Church, Church St. Rollinsford, NH with Rev. Thomas Coover, pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in the family lot in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
