Read MoreI'm another of the poli sci grad student cohort that Toby and Bernie mentored. My wife and I went to Madison to see them again 3 years ago and they treated us like family, as always. Even drove us to the airport when we left. I'm so grateful for her long life and will never forget Toby and Bernie.

Toby was such a welcoming presence for grad students at the University of Wisconsin. She and Bernie made us feel part of a family by gatherings at their home. That community served us well and continues today. I have her cheesecake recipe and will make it soon with great memories of good times with the Madison Political Science crew, including my husband Scott Harris and many others who were in that special group!
