Not sure what to say?

Laura had a way of remembering detail. Detail in books she read, names of flowers , dates of when things happened in the world and in her family. I will cherish her recollections that she shared of her family life and her stories.

I met Laura after moving to Bakersfield and she became a great friend and mentor in the LWV. We worked together on many League of Women Voter projects and after I moved to Ventura, we stayed in touch on the issues we both cared about. She kindly visited us in our new home, and I would visit her when we came to Bakersfield. She was such a delightful person, thoughtful, frank and honest about any issue that arose. I will miss her terribly, as a wonderful friend through time and distance.

I knew Laura at the Peace Operations Center at All Saints, Pasadena in the 70's and ran into her again here in Bakersfield. She truly worked for peace and justice in the world, and I have always appreciated her efforts. She will be missed.

Laura Dennison was for years my window to the Bakersfield democratic scene. As chair of the LWV, she never took sides, but she'd call me and we'd go register voters at grocerty stores or Cal State...it was always such a delight to spend time with her! Her positive spirit and can-do attitude inspire me to this day. We will always remember her as a good friend and a woman who changed the world!

I can't express my feelings of loss. Laura was my friend and at times she acted as part of my brain as we worked on Democratic and HCA endeavors in Bakersfield. She was, and is, a bright light in the Universe.

It truly was my honor to have met Laura. The far few opportunities my wife, Melanie and I had to share a conversation, a laugh, and a “Samosa” or two with her and her husband Dan, will always be precious and dear to us.
It was quite easy to see Laura’s dedication to a better world; her vitality, intellect, and ideas… always open to explore, to try, and share a thought or two.... Her impact was felt through all that knew and loved her.
The world as lost a special spark of humanity...

I met Laura when I was working for Project Clean Air during my college years. We became friends when Dan and Laura hired me to house sit and take care of their dogs while they were away. We shared many values and a love of Indian food. I got to see her in July in her temporary home at the Hospice. She was still actively involved with mentoring one of the young attendants there. I will miss her greatly.
