I am just so grateful to have crossed paths with Laura. She was such a big fan of our honeybees and local honey and became our number 1 employer by hiring graduates of our job training program, who were seeking a second chance after serving time. I will miss you generous heart, kind, warm spirit. R.I. P. Brenda, Sweet Beginnings and NLEN Family

Your Former class mate Jim Castillo

There is a sadness that lingers within all of us at the loss of Laura leaving this world. But, I know we are all better people because of her; because she had an impact on everyone's life and world, and she so humbly never even realized it. She always made you feel "at home" when you were with her. It was always Comfortable and Laura always made you feel important and loved. Chrissy and family, so sorry to hear about Laura. Meet her on several occasions and it was always a pleasure. Heaven gained another Angel with Laura. Thoughts and prayers to you all at this difficult time. Sorry I will not be able to attend but know that I am thinking of you all.

Larry and all of Laura's beloved family about whom she spoke so often, I am greatly saddened and stunned to learn of Laura's passing. I worked for Laura and Kristin years ago, on the Powerhouse. Laura was the center of everything I did. She helped me and so many others and made me laugh when I needed it the most. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with you all.

I taught in North Lawndale public schools & every organization within Homan Square for 6 years. When I came to Homan Square to work Laura became my alli, friend and promoter. She got me gigs with the medical center with a mural and had me work with Dr. Dave with the Robert Crown Center. We even created a program for girls called "Inside of Me".
When a community, family and friend loose someone like Laura it seems like an unforgiving void. But we will fill that void with the belief, care...
