Douglass Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home Obituary

Laura Susan Parsons, Age 67, daughter of Carmine Nappa of Avellino, Italy and Lucia Nappa (Belardino) of Newark, NJ passed away August 3, 2013. She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, John E. Parsons. Laura is also survived by her two children; her son Bradford Parsons of Watertown and his wife Lisa Piantedosi Parsons and their children, Lucia and Marco; her daughter Andrea Parsons of Walnut Creek, CA and her fiance Jeffrey McBean; her sisters Conchetta Fischer of Oklahoma and Geraldine Nappa of Florida; 21 nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Laura's passions were many with her family taking top priority. Her grandchildren brought tremendous joy to Laura's life. She smothered Lucia and Marco with hugs and kisses whenever the opportunity presented itself, which to Laura was always. Laura adored her daughter-in-law, Lisa, and often remarked that Lucia and Marco are blessed to have such a loving mother.

Laura and John shared a love for travel especially to Europe. In the past five years, they visited Andrea annually in California. Laura was an avid painter and member of the Reading Art Association. In addition to painting, Laura spent countless hours in her garden. Laura was also a member of Reading Community Singers and active in two bridge clubs. As a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Reading she ran the feeding ministry in Malden for many years.

In addition to her family Laura will be missed by many. Her circle of friends is a wide one, which is a testament to the wonderful person that Laura was. We invite Laura's loved ones to visiting hours from 4-8pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St., Reading, MA and to Laura's memorial service at 11:00am Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Church of the Good Shepherd 95 Woburn St., Reading, MA

Not sure what to say?

John and Family,

I was deeply saddened to come across the notice of Laura's passing in August of 2013. I worked with Laura many years ago at Boston University and we enjoyed many luncheons and social occasions together. We also traveled to Florida when we were about 20 years old. I remember her family home in Belmont on Baker St. and staying overnight once in a while. We had many good times and I will always remember her great sense of humor and easy going ways. I remember when...

JOHN AND FAMILY,

WE ARE SHOCKED AND SADDENED AT LAURA'S PASSING. WE ONLY MET ONCE OR TWICE WHEN SHE AND MY COUSIN CAME TO FL. FOR A VISIT. OVER THE YEARS WE SPOKE ON THE PHONE AND WERE ALWAYS LAUGHING ABOUT ONE THING OR ANOTHER. THE MOST MEMORABLE CONVERSATION WAS JUST BEFORE SHE WENT FOR HER CANCER SURGERY. SHE WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT JOHN THAN HERSELF AND ASKED ME TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH HIM IN CASE SOMETHING WENT WRONG. SHE WAS A SWEET LOVING AND BRAVE PERSON AND WILL BE MISSED...

My love and sadness are with Laura's family. As we all know Laura was a beautiful person inside and out. I will miss her but always remember her kindness, quick wit, smile, and most of all her laugh. She will forever be in everyone of my brush strokes.

Brad you and your family are in our hearts during this difficult time.

My prayers are with the family of Laura. We at the Reading Community Singers will miss Laura very much. Sincerely, Joan Harris.
