I was a friend of Laura's at Yankee Rowing Club, as were we all. I would see Laura out rowing alone up the long stretches of the river, pounding out the miles amidst the quiet and natural beauty of the Connecticut River. As we took our shells out of the water, she would entertain us with the stories she brought back from her world rowing challenges and trips to far off rivers and coast lines. I don't know what drove her, perhaps the adventure and beauty of seeing the world from the water, and...

Laura rowed with us at Yankee Rowing for year. she;d come in after a night shift, or before the start of a 7 am shift and get her water time. she was always attentive and focused and funny, with the occasional add-in of a bit of potty mouth to be sure.

She served as our president for a number of years, and saw to it that the place was ship shape and welcoming.

The memorial gifts will go to an amazing program that benefits mostly public school kids. What a generous gesture. ...
