Corridan Funeral Home - Chicopee Obituary

Westfield- Laura A. (Tefft) Sweeney, 57, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on January 14, surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Springfield, Laura was the daughter of M. Helen (Pugliano) O’Neil and the late Ralph E. Tefft.  She was a graduate of Putnam Vocational High School and received her Associate’s degree in nursing from HCC.  Laura worked as an LPN and was employed as a waitress at Schermerhorn’s restaurant in Holyoke for many years.  In addition to her mother Helen, Laura is also survived by her daughter, Samantha Tefft and her husband, Tyler Chick, her son Mark Tefft, and his partner Nichole, her brothers, Steve and Dave Cote, and her grandchildren, Nevaeh, Seth, Charlotte, and Amara, along with many extended family and friends.  Laura loved her family above all else and cherished any time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.  She had an infectious laugh that brought a smile to people’s faces and had the charm and personality to make new friends everywhere she went.  Laura enjoyed riding on the back of a Harley Davidson, listening to Kid Rock, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, sunflowers, and her coffee with French vanilla creamer.  Laura was a friend of Bill and Bob, and was able to live her best life, be her best self, and meet some of her best friends because of them.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lifepoint Church, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, MA, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 beginning at 11:00am.  To share a memory or to leave your condolences for the family, please visit www.CorridanFuneral.com

Not sure what to say?

My condolences to the families. I met Laura at Schermerhorns. She was a great waitress. Always had a great smile. She and my daughter had the same name and born the same year. My daughter had the pleasure of meeting Laura. R. I. P. friend

I haven't seen laura for awhile but she was a kind, open, person. I knew that as soon as I met her maybe 20 yrs ago. All that I want to say about about her is she was everything good. Peace to her daughter and family❤

I am also a friend of Bill's. I met Laura a number of years ago through our mutual friend, Alan Hurlburt. Laura was one of the sweetest, most thoughtful and kind people that I ever met. I shop at Schermerhorn's and used to see Laura on a pretty regular basis. Laura's passing is a tremendous loss to both her family and all of her friends. I will certainly keep Laura, her family and friends in my prayers. I will miss you Laura. Your friend, John W. Kelley

Laura Sweeny was genuinely excellent, and her passing was a significant loss to everyone who knew her. She was a kind and caring individual who always had a smile and a warm greeting for everyone she met. Her dedication to her job was remarkable, and she always went above and beyond to ensure that her customers were satisfied. Getting waited on by Laura was a real treat, as she had a way of making you feel unique and valued. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she...

I knew Laura from years in my life. She was a beautiful person inside and out always helping people. May you rest in peace❤❤❤❤
You will be missed. Love to you Laura.

Laura's laugh will forever live on inside me because it is not something you could forget! Laura got me through hard times in my own life and never ever judged. Laura was so loved by anybody who knew her! If you came to Schermerhorns and Laura was there, you could expect to laugh and hear singing (not well but you know!). I miss you Laura and I love you.

Sending my condolences to you and your family we where neighbors in the park she was a very nice person was always looking for one her cats.
