Not sure what to say?

Dear Zaks family, It´s been a long time since sweet Laurel passed, but she lives in my heart everyday, as alive as she ever was. I live in Asheville now, Laurel´s happy place, and smile every time I drive past the Manna food bank. Thinking of you all and sending love and hugs. Rebecca Merrill Asheville, NC

Laurel is an inspiration. I worked with Laurel in Santo Domingo de los Tsachillas, Educador. I remember her as a role model for those that want to uplift the dignity and well-being of others. Descanse en paz amiga.

Laurels bright spirit will never be forgotten. She has been greatly missed in this world. May God bless the family who mourn her loss. I know shes an angel looking down upon everyone and helping where she can.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Zaks:
I had the pleasure of knowing Laurel at CDC. She had a way of showing her genuine personal interest to everyone I saw her meet. Her heart was kind and caring! I read this Bible verse on the day of Laurel's funeral and thought that whatever great pains she had carried, she is at peace. "The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom." This is a sad time for everyone who knew Laurel, most especially her family,...

I had the pleasure of knowing Laurel through her attendance in my water aerobics class. Although I have known her for just a short time, I always enjoyed her kind spirit and altruistic attitude. I learned of your tragedy just last evening. I am very troubled and saddened by her recent passing. I hope that she is at peace, and my heart goes out to you in your time of such tremendous sorrow.

Dear Dr and Mrs. Zaks,
My heart goes out to you both. As you know Laurel was much loved by my family. They send their most heartfelt condolences. As for myself, I am glad for the time we shared and will carry her in my thoughts.

I had the honor of serving in the Peace Corps with Laurel in Ecuador. Although I did not know her well enough, I did learn all my survival cooking from her. Every time I cook quinoa or bake banana/carrot bread with oatmeal, I think of her. She continued to serve as an inspiration after Peace Corps as we followed similar paths into public health. She will be remembered for her drive, her dedication, and her desire to make the world a better place. We will miss her as we carry on her work to...

I had the pleasure of working with Laurel at CDC and considered her a great friend and mentor. I am saddened to hear of the loss of such a wonderful young woman. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
