MOUNTAIN TOP — Lauren T. Higgs, 18, of Mountain Top, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of William and Martha (Zulawski) Higgs, Mountain Top.

Lauren was an active student at the Holy Redeemer High School and was a member of the girls soccer team, National Honor Society, Student Leadership Council, Prom and Semi Committee, and the PGAS.

She was a member of St. Jude Parish, Mountain Top, and its Youth Group, along with the Mountain Top Recreational Soccer Club. Lauren enjoyed hiking and traveling with her brothers and sister, especially the Higgs Sister Vacations in 2014 and 2015.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her sister Alicia, Seattle, Washington; and brothers, Brian and Justin, both at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium of the Holy Redeemer High School, Wilkes-Barre.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer Girls Soccer Team, where a scholarship is being established in her name.

McCune Funeral Service Inc. of Mountain Top is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dear Higgs Family, I am so sorry to hear about Lauren. I had the pleasure of knowing Lauren when she was in my group ice skating class years ago; she was always a delight and everyone loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
