Not sure what to say?

A very good man who I highly respected and greatly enjoyed being around. He had a lively mind and always had interesting things to say, often with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. And he clearly had a big impact on his students and colleagues. I'll miss him but will always cherish his memory. My deep condolences to his loving family -- Mrs. Pettit, Lauren, Larry, the grandchildren and all others. You did good, Mr. Pettit.

My deepest condolences on Professor Pettit´s passing. Larry was my professor in 2000, teaching me his famous GDP course before I later went on to a job on Wall Street right out of McIntire. Larry´s course was incredibly demanding and rewarding, but what I remember most is the time Larry gave to his students in his office hours. Larry would play classical music and debate a company´s valuation and future potential with us, proving invaluable learning but also putting the fun into business. He...

So sorry to hear of Larry´s passing. I´m a distant cousin of his, my name is Beth Knight Williams. I´m Ruth Knight´s granddaughter. Larry and Kitty have been so kind to my family and I over the years and have given my parents a place to stay when I had several surgeries at UVA. They also visited with us before I had jaw surgery at UVA in 2001. Last time I saw them was probably several years later when my brother was going to UVA as a finance major. I so appreciate all Larry and Kitty...

Professor Pettit was a legend at McIntire. He was in incredible professor who had an enormous impact on my career and countless others.

Mr. Pettit was my most influential educator in my lifetime. His GDP course taught me life lessons that have had a profound influence on my business career. I still speak of him often.

Kitty, I'm so sorry to hear about your recent loss. I always looked forward to Larry's dental visits even if he may not have. Tom Leinbach

FROM : Mike Moose - U.Va. Commerce 1971 (Marketing) As an undergraduate student, Professor Pettit taught me Business Statistics (2 Semesters), during my 3rd Year, 1969 to 1970. I remember him very well also, as a Finance Professor. Although I was a Marketing Major, I saw him often, during my 2 years in the Commerce School. After I Graduated, in 1971, I would always speak with him, whenever I visited the University of Virginia, for various U.Va. Reunions and Commerce Events. I saw Prof....

Kitty, Nancy and I are so sorry for your loss. Larry was a role model for everyone he encountered. He had great ideas for getting things done. I enjoyed our time together on various church communities and many years in a Meadows church men's breakfast group. May God's peace and love be with you and your family. Dick & Nancy
