HETCHLER, Laurie – Of Flint, age 84, died Monday, June 20, 2022 at Caremore of Genesee Valley.


Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.


Those desiring may make contributions to Humane Society of Genesee County.


Visitation 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.


Laurie was born in Flint, Michigan on November 20, 1937, the daughter of the late KWA and Evelyn McLeod.


She graduated from Flint Central High School and Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. She was a loving mother, raising her children and spending most of her adult life in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.


Laurie always had a love of horses, dogs and golf. She had a great sense of humor and love for life.


Laurie was a secretary in the health care industry for over 40 years, ending her career at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.


Surviving are daughter, Hannah (Michael) Rausch;


son, Robert (Olga) Hetchler;


3 grandchildren, Benjamin, Owen and Maggie;


brother, Peter Kenneth (Judy) McLeod;


several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her brother, Ian.

Love you Mom forever and always

To the family, Hannah, and Bobby. My deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother and the beautiful and kind woman she was to many. Laurie was comical and enjoyed telling stories. I was fortunate to have the pleasure of knowing her early on in younger years as a primary baby sitter for several years. She had a great sense of humor and was always appreciative of anything I did to help with housekeeping and cleaning the fish tank! LoL
