Not sure what to say?

I just learned of Laurie's passing. The world has lost a wonderful person! Laurie was my beloved cousin--adored and respected by many. His mom (Thelma) was my dad's (Samuel Gilbert Townshend Jr) much loved sister. Laurie Gene was a prince of a man--he lovingly cared for his mom in her later days and for his beloved wife in her later days. What a testimony of love, devotion! My favorite memory of Laurie Gene was in November 1971--when I was recovering from my cancer operation at the...

I learned of Laurie´s passing when our Xmas card was returned. Laurie worked for me at Leaseway for many years and would write to me each year at this time. He was a truly wonderful man as was his wife Evelyn and treated my wife and me so wonderfully each time we visited. I know he is with God and probably "a few" fishermenI was truly blessed to have know him. Dennis Abruzzi

Our family is saddened by Laurie´s passing. We all knew him and enjoyed his and Evelyn´s hospitality on our business and social visits to Hampton Roads going back to the 1970´s. In my twenty-four years with Leaseway Transportation Laurie was my most treasured friend and business associate and we continued that association up until July 22, 2023 - our last text back-and-forth. We had a grand time together and he often kept me straight with a little poke when he thought I needed one. He was...

The man, the legend. I am so glad this man was in my life. I will miss the stories told in that strong southern dialect and that big ole smile he always had (unless he was POed)....Thanks for renting out the termite house to me....Miss ya Laurie

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your Dad. He was such a special Friend to Gus , always visiting him when he was sick, and to me as was your Mom. The Crazy Crabber , gosh how many memories. Dena and I were just talking about how he taught her how to 'really' pick crabs. Love and Hugs to all of you. They raised a great family, and I love you all. Each of you have a special place in my heart, and I would love to see you all again. Mamy Happy memories. Faye

Laurie was a wonderful friend to me, Carrie Meinhardt, and my husband, Alvin Meinhardt. Alvin and Laurie went to school together And shared many happy fun memories through the years. Laurie was a kind hearted person, was always nice to see him when he visited Maryland.

Thank you for all you shared with me over 40 years: the fishing trips, the long phone conversations, whatsapp texts, nature videos from the backyard, taking the boat out for a spin, steamed crabs in the backyard by the rope swing and horseshoes, stories and conversations about diving and life over a Wild Turkey/Angels Envy (or VS or VV)... and so on.

I learned a lot from you and will always miss you. Say hi to Grandmom for us.

Cheers to you Granddad,
-Justin

Dear Grandad, I will never forget your fanatic interest in the Chesapeake Bay and your commitment to share that love with everyone. While we were never close I'm thankful that in these last few years I got to know who you'd come to be and I'm proud to call that man Grandad. I'll never forget your stories and the time we've spent throughout the years with you giving me a hard time about getting a girlfriend. I remember you running alongside the car everytime we left your house and all of...

Just wanted to let the family know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Laurie was a dear friend and neighbor to me and I will miss our talks, jokes and friendship. Fay Rogers 47 Eastmoreland Drive
