Not sure what to say?

Lauro Halstead was a North Star of direction in my PPS life; for 1987 onward...truly missed worldwide.

Lauro was my special mentor and dear friend. I transitioned from Internal Medicine as a PA to Rehabilitation Medicine at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston. We worked as an innovative team in spinal cord rehab, then, again innovative, adding fertility in spinal cord patients and then, even more innovating with our post polio clinic. To all of Dr. Halstead´s Family: Lauro diagnosed me with PPS in 2003 while I was working in Washington. I will forever be grateful for the help and guidance he gave me in successfully living with this condition.

I remember singing special lyrics to the song "Scotland the Brave: that honored Lauro on his birthday. He was a brave and remarkable man. May he rest in peace.

Dr.Halstead saw me as a fellow polio survivor with some post polio symptoms in 2007.He was very helpful and I appreciated his time and advice. He learned from his illness and gave to others.I try to do likewise. He inspired me

Dr. Halstead is one of my polio heroes. His amazing and tireless commitment to individuals with spinal cord injuries and polio survivors is unparalleled. What a beautiful difference one single life made.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
