Not sure what to say?

When I think of Laverne, I think strong and sensitive. And from there I think courageous and independent. I had the privilege of being her roommate and I treasure those memories. I remember the day she conceived and launched the first African American cable show when we were in college, and later went to Cincinnati to work. When I had my first child, Laverne said the crib was the most important purchase and should be of good quality. She not only bought the crib but drove it from Cleveland to...

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. Our deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.

I am deeply saddened to hear of LaVerne's passing. She was a close friend in college and often encouraged me in many of my career challenges. I will miss her smile and will always remember her.

Our prayers are with the family in this time of sorrow. May God give you strength during this difficult time.

Sincere condolonces to the family.

To Bertha, Jamal,Jessica and Family:

The last time I saw LaVerne on July 2, 2006, she was very alert.

I will always remember her very pleasant personality. I remember when she was a producer at WKYC Channel 3 News in Cleveland and the May 16, 1974 Berea News-Sun article about her. You, Bertha, and her father Oscar were so proud of her. Also her family and I, as well as her other friends, were so proud of her.

I remember the kind things she used to do...

Aunt Bert,
I am deeply saddened. You were one of the best mother and daughter teams I have ever known... My family extends our deepest sympathy!

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Jamal, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I wanted to express my deepest regrets to you and your family.
