LaVerne Shuttera

LaVerne Shuttera bravely fought Leukemia for the last few years. Her loving family rushed to be by her side when her battle unexpectedly ended on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. LaVerne was born to Pius and Mabel Burch, in Fresno, Ca., on April 21, 1928. She met the love of her life, Vic at a dance at the Moose Lodge. They were happily married for 53 years. During that time, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business. They raised a family, and enjoyed traveling the world. LaVerne was the matriarch of the family. She was a very loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sonny Burch; and her son, Robert Shuttera. She leaves behind her loving husband and lifelong companion, Vic Shuttera. She is also survived by her sons, Steve and Mark; daughter-in-law, Charlene; daughter, Vicki Day and her companion, Randy Essman; grandchildren Sacbe and his wife Karla, Michelle and her husband Mike Launier, Brian Day, Brandi Shuttera, and Charlie Shuttera. A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, on Monday, January 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Services will be followed by a luncheon at the Shuttera home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in LaVerne's name to the 2nd Marine Division Association, P.O. Box 8180, Camp Lejeune, NC., 28547.
