LaVerne Engebretsen Lewis Tiedeman

LaVerne and Stan attended SPC with my parents Barbara and George Maroe. Our family visited them often at their Shoreline home and at their beach home on Whidbey Island. At the beach they lived next door to Ron and Marie Pickett, another SPC couple who were close college friends. LaVerne taught kindergarten next door to me at Meridian Elementary School in Shoreline during my first two years of teaching. She was so encouraging and helpful! LaVerne was my sponsor into Daughters of Norway and also a good friend and mentor. Her beautiful smile and graciousness was beyond compare. She made everyone feel special. She was loved by so many and will be terribly missed.

All over Europe, cities display steeples on the horizon and statues upon entering the churches. LaVerne and her family will always be remembered for the precious memorial of Jesus on the cross in our church; and we shall always relate stories of her out-going affection to everyone, with unforgettable kitchen favors.

Auntie Laverne or " LaLa" as we knew her as young kids was a very special person and like a second Mom for our family. The many treats she always had whenever we came to visit will be missed, especially for my Dad! She always had something special for him. Laverne was such an inspiration for the many hours she put in to leave us all with the history of our Norwegian heritage. What a wonderful gift. She is with those who have been waiting for her and I know she and my Mom have lots to catch...

LaVerne Tiedeman was a welcome friend of the Tiedemans and Finstads. We knew her both as LaVerne Lewis, while Stan was with us, then LaVerne Tiedeman when she married my mother's cousin, Wenzel Tiedeman. It was always a joy to visit with LaVerne. Now she has joined both Stan and Wenzel in eternal life and in God's presence. I cannot make it on Saturday to the service, already have 3 other commitments.

Aunt Laverne was an amazing person, loved life and all those around her. Still drove that little sports car all around. Loved that about her. She was full of grace and really loved hearing about what you were doing. I know she is up there enjoying a good cup of coffee with Mom, Grandpa and Nanny, Stan and all those who were waiting for her.
