BASILE, Lawrence A. "Larry" Age 75, found peace on June 14, 2025, fittingly on Gay Pride Day in Boston, a city whose streets, stories, and soul he knew by heart. Born on February 26, 1950, at Fort Belvoir, VA, Larry was the beloved son of Colonel Anthony L. and Marion F. (Heaney) Basile. He was...

Not sure what to say?

today I went to fish on my kids favorite spot, Mr. Basile used to maintain the place and was always happy to see the kids making memories. we used to go early and heard the birds while fishing. he was a remarkable man he touched many lives and certainly his generosity created some of the most cherished memories of my family.

Walking my Chihuahua on his land a few years ago I met Larry and Pepe opening a beaver dam that blocked the water. He was a very kind man I could see. I felt welcomed on his property. Today after a long time I walked my dog there again. I could sense something had changed long before I got there. The life had left the woods. Little did I know what had happened. May God welcome you home Larry.

As a classmate at Xaverian Brothers High School, I tutored Larry in Latin (at the request of Brother Hart, later Father Eugene Trainor), in anticipation of his entering the seminary. I am very sorry to learn of Larry's passing. I had not seen him since our graduation in 1968. My profound condolences to his family.

I moved to Boston´s South End in the late `70´s and met Larry soon after that. His bar `Fritz´ was an oasis in a rapidly changing neighborhood and Larry´s presence there assured a welcome to everyone. He was kind, honest, friendly neighbor. RIP.

Our friendship dates back to the days at St. John's Seminary. I fondly remember his welcoming personality and his famous notebooks that were lined ,not with Latin conjugations, but rather page after page of beautifully sketched flowers. Through the years we would occasionally get together and catch up to discuss what life has given us. His commitment, advocacy and generosity to those in need has been incredible and exemplary. It speaks wonders of our dear Larry. AMDG

Lawrence A. (Larry) Basile , was one of the most easy-going people I´ve ever worked for. His love for humanity goes beyond boundaries. Every day he would ask, "How are you doing? Is everything alright? Can I help you with anything?"And he was the boss and you were the employee? I worked as a personal chef for Larry and Clem a few years ago, just for a short time. It was a great experience and opportunity. Thank you. The sun sets on this life for you; may it rise glorious in the next one...

For so many years neighbors on Cape. So much fun and acceptance as a straight family. Just about every morning hearing him on his deck calling my name. Clem and him were both so warm and so were all their friends. Letting us into the life of the gay community. All love he shed on our Downs daughter, Toni. You were and always be a part of my heart. And even after we all left the Cape the years that followed with phone calls and letters. Loved and forever missed, Carole
