I am so sorry to learn of Larry's death. He sounded so positive even when emailing me about his cancer. Because I'm the archivist for the Buck Hill Archives, Larry got in touch with me about his book "Buck Hill Boys," about young men who worked in the kitchen of the Inn at Buck Hill Falls in the 1970s. I proofed it for him, and the Archives is proud to have a copy. In the book is a chapter about Larry's--then called "Tex"--working for Executive Chef Hans Dellenbach at the Everglades Club...

I am saddened to hear of Larry's illness and passing. I had the pleasure of going to high school with Larry in the late sixties and early 70's. He was an awesome student and good friend through school,he will be missed.

What sad news to hear. He was a great guy. He loved being a chef, but he lived for his wife and children. That was always very clear to anyone who met him, it seemed. I had the privilege and good fortune to be Chef Bowen's secretary at the Westin Hotels in Houston for awhile. He always - always - made me feel comfortable and competent, like I had something important to contribute, and he made me feel worthy to be working with him.
