Lawrence E. Burke

I met Larry many soon after I moved to Chicago it must have been 1981 or 82. We worked at Uncle Dans a quirky place that drew the most amazing people. I remember working evenings with Larry, Aisha, Lin TO and Nancy. We would just have fun or just make fun of each other.
Aisha and I married and kept in touch with Larry over the years untill our lives just got too busy. Many things have changed since then but Larry's good heart and loving spirit is a memory I will always cherish.

Larry Burke was my cousin. I was blessed to be related to him. He was a kind, gentle, warm, loving man. We didn't see each other very much, but when we did he almays made me smile. Many, many years ago when we were children, we shared a family vacation in Michigan. We fished with bamboo poles on the small pier, swam in the lake, explored the land and actually found an abandoned log cabin, then in the evenings we told silly stories. To this day those memories still make me smile. God bless you...

I only new Larry since January 2004, and He was a very inspiring and friendly person. Larry Will truely be missed. I really got to know Larry at CGMC Spring Concert, and had a great time.

I have known Larry for almost 25 years. He grew up with my husband in the same neighborhood on the South side of Chicago. Larry was always a sweet guy with a smile for everyone. I will miss his Christmas cards.....they always had a cool picture of a train on the cover. Our son (now 18) always looked forward to receiving these Christmas cards from Larry and Rob. Larry was a very special man. He had the energy and the drive to do so very much in his all-too-short lifetime. He was fun-loving and highly spirited and an overall good person to know.

I only got to know Larry within the last few years. His (voluntary) job as GALA Coordinator for CGMC made him very visible to the newer members of the chorus. Larry always enjoyed doing something he believed in, so the job of getting people to go to GALA was a great one for him. He believed in...

I only knew Larry for four years here at Marco Consulting. But during those years I was lucky enough to consider him a friend. He would stop by my desk and we would chat about his latest square dancing trip or visit to his and Rob's family. He was always so interesting to talk to...and always so upbeat even when he wasn't in the best of health. I will miss him. He was truly a wonderful, kind man.

I've known Larry for a very long time. I joined CGMC in 1985 and he in 1986. We became very fast friends and remained as such throughout all this time. I worked with him as sort of a "right hand man" whenever he served as the GALA Coordinator. I was always happy to work with him since he was focused and organized. And always had a smile even when things got tough! I believe he was like that all through his life. He will be dearly missed.
