Not sure what to say?

Mr. Byrd was a distinguished educator who lived in New Rochelle, New York during the 1970s and 1980s. His passionate commitment to excellence in teaching is something I will never forget. His support and mentoring of young professionals made a difference in my life. Mr. Byrd's legacy lives on in the lives of all those he touched and taught.

Mr. Byrd had this wonderful capacity to make every Browne JH School student believe that (s)he was the next, new wonder of the world. We believed in ourselves largely because of his incredible belief in us and what we would become. I have been fortunate to become a University president (Albany
State University, Georgia) in no small measure because of Mr. Byrd's sure and loving guidance, his great joy of life, and his abiding faith in us. May he rest in peace!

I am very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in family, friends (Proverbs 17:17) and prayer during this difficult time.

To the Family.

I had the pleasure of having Mr. Byrd as my Geography teacher at Browne Jr. High School, Washington, DC, back in the 60's. I later found out that Mr. Byrd and my Dad were classmates at Terrell Jr, High, also in Washington, DC. He was a wonderful teacher and gave us guidance as well. Thank you for sharing him with us.
