LAWRENCE CHALETSKY Obituary

CHALETSKY, Lawrence Allen Age 84, of Newton Centre, MA, formerly of Boston, died peacefully on December 8, 2021 in the presence of his loving family. He was the son of Julia and Jacob Chaletsky of Boston. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Jeanette DeVito Chaletsky, son Dr. David Chaletsky, daughter-in-law Dr. Suzanne Tenser Chaletsky, and grandchildren Katie and Jake. He also leaves behind his sister Marilyn Roseland; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry grew up in the West End of Boston where he had many friends and worked at his parents' variety store after school and on weekends. As a teenager he attended Boston Latin School and worked as a water boy for the Boston Celtics at the original Boston Garden. He was a graduate of Boston University where he became a chemist. He was a proud member of the United States Army, then served in the National Guard while attending Boston University Law School. He became a successful and respected chemical patent attorney which gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world. Larry was a great dancer, which is how he met his beautiful wife Jeanette at the Sherry Biltmore where they went on to win a cha-cha contest and begin to build a beautiful life together. He loved his family and drew great pride providing for them and observing their many achievements. He will be missed so much by everyone. Funeral service and burial will be Monday, December 13, 2021 at 11am at Woodlawn Cemetery, Versailles Mausoleum, 302 Elm Street, Everett, MA 02149. Masks are required for all attendees. I had the pleasure to work alongside Larry back in late 90s. He was always in great spirits and that was catching to those around him. I will always miss my interactions with him as well as the delicious bagels he used to bring. Thoughts and prayers for him and his family. RIP, my friend. Pete Martinez, PhD

Larry and I spent many weeks together in the mid 90s working on patents for Cargill. I loved this man, and learned so much from him. I will never forget trying to go out to dinner, "I don't want any garlic. No garlic. And when you think my steak is well done, butterfly it and cook it some more". Rest in peace my friend. I will always remember you.

To Jeanette, David and family.
I am personally deeply saddened to hear of the loss of my dear friend and mentor Larry.
Larry was a great patent lawyer. Larry was my mentor for many years and I can still hear his voice when I review documents. Larry was brilliant; but Larry was more than a mentor, he was a dear friend that I share many memories with. Larry always invited my wife and children to dinner with us. I have many fond memories of my children having ice cream with Uncle Larry, regardless what mom said! Larry treated my children like his grandchildren and they loved him. Larry would always talk about Jeanette and he was so proud of David. Larry was humble, but brilliant and demanded excellence from himself and others. He worked tirelessly and was always gracious. I am so thankful I had Larry as a mentor and as a loyal and trustworthy friend. I am better in every way because of Larry Chaletsky. .
