Lawrence S. Duda died peacefully at the age of 92 on August 23, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family: wife Renée and children Alex, Derek and Lauren. A friend to many, he left an impression on everyone he met. An avid linguaphile, his love of words matched his joy for life. His greatest love in life, however, was for his wife, Renée. Among his many career achievements, Duda was a member of the Cleveland Board of Education and was the President of the National Association of Manpower Programs. Duda was also President of the Ohio Association of Neighborhood Youth Corps Directors. The program provided summer jobs for Cleveland area students, taught the value of a good work ethic and allowed supplemental income for their families. Duda's commitment to his community was also noted in his work with St. Anthony of Padua Parish. After retiring from a second career at New York Life, Duda continued to contribute to community efforts in Parma - but found time to strive for perfection on the golf course. He did not quite get there but really enjoyed the process. He was active and engaged in local community issues, and as his family knew well, he loved pie - any pie. Larry was known for his eloquence, work ethic, and joie de vivre in his retirement years. Son of Stephen and Lillian Duda, he was one of five brothers:, Richard, Norbert, Francis, and Jerry. Visitation Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4-7PM at Fortuna Funeral Home, 7076 Brecksville Rd, Independence, Ohio. Service at the funeral home on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 10:00am followed by burial at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Bath Township, OH. Love that Larry. Every evening after dinner, one of us set up the tv in the theater for him and Renee to watch a movie. I swear, there is not a movie they have not seen. Then others followed them. He was so nice, kind, and considerate. Will be missed by many. Rest in peace dear friend.
